Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide patient assessments and individualized treatment plans under OT supervision in an inpatient setting. You will document patient progress, administer treatment modalities, and maintain accurate records in line with Mercy policies.

The role requires an OTA diploma from an accredited program, current licensure or eligibility, BLS certification, and a preference for candidates with 1 year of experience, though new graduates are

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• One year experience preferred but will consider new graduates.
• BLS/CPR certification required and current before caring for patients independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient under direction from OT/RT and according to departmental policies.
• Document course of patient care including progress notes and continuing need for treatment.
• Administer modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures per department policies.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient.
• Participate in promoting education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of special needs across neonatal to geriatric ages.
• Perform miscellaneous duties directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
