Job summary

Citizens is seeking a HELOC Underwriter based in Mason, OH. You will render quality credit decisions on HELOC applications and review documentation to ensure decisions align with underwriting policies.

The role requires 3–5 years of HELOC experience, strong analysis of income documents, and collaboration with retail sales and loan officers in a fast-paced environment. Office presence is expected during normal business hours in Mason.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years related experience.
  • Home Equity lending and processing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of equity lending policies, procedures, and products.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented and have excellent interpersonal, communication and computer skills.
  • Experience with automated systems.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and appropriately decision Home Equity Line of Credit applications in accordance with the Consumer Lending credit policy and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure material information captured in the application is accurate and updated as needed based on the documentation provided.
  • Meet or exceed productivity levels and credit quality standards as established.
  • Analyze and interpret POI documents to determine verifiable income and document the methodology used to calculate income.
  • Analyze all applications for counteroffer opportunities when the original terms do not qualify.
  • Respond timely to questions and emails to provide excellent customer service.

Additionally, you will review all required documentation deemed necessary to determine the credit decision is valid and in line with underwriting policies. Primary Responsibilities Include
  • Analyze and appropriately decision Home Equity Line of Credit applications in accordance with the Consumer Lending credit policy and regulatory guidelines (including the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Equal Credit Opportunity Act).
  • Ensure material information captured in the application is accurate and updated as needed based on the documentation provided. Demonstrate sound judgment in the analysis of required documentation while mitigating organization risk through appropriate decision making.
  • Meet or exceed productivity levels and credit quality standards as established.
  • Analyze and interpret POI documents, including personal tax returns, in order to determine verifiable income in an effort to verify a customer’s ability to repay the loan. Clearly document files with the methodology used to calculate the income.
  • Analyze all applications for counteroffer opportunities when the original terms requested do not qualify.
  • Respond timely to questions and emails to provide superior customer service to both internal and external customers.
Qualifications, Education, Certifications And/or Other Professional Credentials
  • Three to five years related experience.
  • Home Equity lending and processing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of equity lending policies, procedures, and products, as well as knowledge of secondary market guidelines.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented and have excellent interpersonal, communication and computer skills.
  • Experience with automated systems.
  • Proficiency with the system is essential. Attendance in office during normal business hours (at minimum) may be required in order to effectively coordinate with multiple departments, projects and outside entities.
  • Ability to work well with retail sales and loan officers.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate complex income calculations.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Hours per Week:40
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4 days a week in the office in Mason, OH
