Job summary

Resource Innovations is seeking a Residential Outreach Specialist to promote enrollment in the Energy Savings Assistance Program in the San Diego area. The role involves field outreach, customer education, eligibility assessments, and enrollment paperwork.

The candidate will install basic energy- and water-saving measures, maintain records, and travel locally to support program goals. A strong focus on customer service and safety is required for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of professional work experience in sales, customer service, community outreach, education, or a related field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain active Home Improvement Salesperson registration through the CSLB.
• Valid California driver’s license in good standing.
• Must have a reliable vehicle with insurance for regular travel within the service area.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to explain program requirements and energy-conservation concepts to diverse customers.
• Ability to accurately complete forms, collect documentation, and maintain confidential information.
• Ability to work independently, manage appointments, and meet outreach/enrollment goals.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach to eligible households through canvassing, lead lists, referrals, and approved sources.
• Meet with utility customers to explain the Energy Savings Assistance Program and its benefits.
• Explain income requirements and property eligibility criteria.
• Describe energy-conservation measures and their benefits and timing.
• Provide energy-education and cost-saving recommendations to help customers set goals.
• Evaluate income eligibility and residential structural eligibility.
• Complete enrollment paperwork and collect required documentation.
• Maintain accurate customer records using program forms and data systems.
• Install basic energy- and water-saving measures (e.g., LED bulbs, torchiere lamps, smart power strips).
• Maintain professional interactions with customers and follow safety policies.
