Homestead Comfort in Ellington, CT is seeking a full-time Home Energy and insulation assistant technician. You will install batt insulation, blown-in cellulose, or blown-in fiberglass, and assist with air sealing and weather-stripping. The role runs 7:00 am–3:30 pm with overtime as needed and year-round work.

This hands-on position requires a valid CT driver’s license, basic math skills, and physical stamina. Competitive pay is $18–$21 per hour, plus a benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid CT driver's license and clean driving record.
• Basic math skills required for measurements and calculations.
• Skilled craftsmanship with neat work habits and quality workmanship.
• Ability to carry 50 lbs, climb a 20 ft ladder, and access attics/crawl spaces.
• Strong verbal and written communication and reliability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Install fiberglass batt insulation, blown-in cellulose, or blown-in fiberglass insulation.
• Support air sealing initiatives and install weather stripping.
• Perform energy efficiency upgrades under the HES program.
• Work independently or with a team, maintain safety and quality on job sites.

This full-time, in-person position is scheduled from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, or until the completion of daily assignments, with overtime available as needed. The role offers consistent hours and the assurance of ongoing work throughout the year.

WHAT'S YOUR DAY LIKE?

As an Insulation Tech Assistant, you will contribute directly to improving the energy efficiency and comfort of homes throughout Connecticut. Your day will involve installing fiber‑glass batt insulation, blown‑in cellulose, or blown‑in fiber‑glass insulation. You will also support air sealing initiatives, install weather stripping, and perform other home efficiency upgrades under the HES program. Each assignment will require problem‑solving and sound judgment, whether you are working independently or alongside a team. The role entails carrying materials, ascending ladders, and working in confined areas such as attics and crawl spaces, occasionally in challenging temperature conditions. Throughout your workday, you will prioritize quality, maintain a professional demeanor in client interactions, and demonstrate reliability and craftsmanship.

WHAT'S NEEDED FROM AN INSULATION TECH ASSISTANT?

• Valid CT driver's license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation
• Good basic math skills
• Skilled craftsmanship, neat work habits, and a quality approach to work
• Ability to carry 50 lbs., climb a 20-foot ladder, and work in attics or crawl spaces
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Strong work ethic and reliability, as well as good interpersonal skills

Preferred:

• Certification from BPI
• Experience with construction and diagnostic equipment
• Knowledge of air distribution, home performance, and building science
• Interest or experience in energy conservation, duct sealing, and weather stripping
• Ability to assume project responsibility and delegate to helpers
