Job summary

Performance Food Group is seeking an experienced CDL-A Driver in Chattanooga, TN. This role involves operating tractor-trailer or straight trucks to deliver and unload food products, following DOT regulations, with a Monday–Friday schedule and a $65,000–$70,000 average annual pay.

You are a key face of the company, ensuring timely, safe delivery and solid customer relations. The job requires a valid CDL-A, 12+ months driving, and the ability to lift 60–90 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
• 12+ months commercial driving experience.
• Valid CDL-A license.
• Must be 21+ years of age.
• Meet state licensing/certification requirements where applicable.
• Clean MVR in past 3 years.
• Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
• Pass road test.
• DOT Health Card current or able to secure one.
• Ability to lift and move freight up to 60–90 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.
• Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
• Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections per DOT regulations; inspects equipment and take action as needed.
• Reports safety issues and/or repairs required.
• Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
• Immediately reports all safety hazards. Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
• Performs count check of items and verify customer invoices.
• Checks and completes paperwork associated with freight.
• Moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
• Drives to and delivers customer orders according to schedule.
• Unloads products from the trailer and transfers to designated customer storage areas.
• Performs damage control checks on items and coordinates returns.
• Verifies delivery with customer and obtain signatures.
• Loads customer returns and secures trailer.
• Ensures equipment and freight are locked and secured.
• Unloads damaged goods and returns; unloads equipment and remove trash from trailers.
• Completes daily hours of service and log per regulations.
• Performs general housekeeping in tractor and dock area.
• End of shift secure equipment and complete paperwork.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
