Job summary

Carilion Clinic seeks an Occupational Therapy Assistant for Home Care (Float) to perform procedures under therapists and deliver patient care per plan of care. You will coordinate care with the team, document treatment in records and participate in professional activities across settings.

Requires an OTA associate degree, Virginia OTA licensure, and BLS-HCP within six months. Travel statewide in Southwest Virginia is expected for home-care assignments.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an AOTA accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
• Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy Assistant in Commonwealth of Virginia.
• AHA BLS-HCP certification required within six months of employment.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service and teamwork skills.
• Ability to travel statewide to various locations within Southwest Virginia; own transportation required for home-care assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform selected procedures under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist.
• Provide patient care based on therapist evaluation and plan of care, considering age and development.
• Coordinate patient care and clinical activities through written/ verbal communication with the care team.
• Document patient care in the medical record and complete forms per policy.
• Supervise and collaborate with staff, volunteers and students to ensure quality care.
• Participate in in-services, performance improvement, new employee orientation and staff meetings.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment programs within scope and orders.
• Work indoors in hospital, nursing home, outpatient or home settings; travel as needed.
