Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Verify patient demographics and insurance information.
• Review bills for accuracy and obtain missing data.
• Identify ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes for reimbursement.
• Submit claims timely and ensure coding compliance with Medicaid, HMOs and PPOs.
• Check insurance payments for accuracy and contract discounts.
• Bill secondary or tertiary insurances as needed.
• Contact insurers and patients regarding payment discrepancies.
• Review aging reports and respond to denials to collect on claims.

Responsibilities

• Verifying current patient demographic information including insurance information and authorization.
• Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information
• Identify the various types of diagnosis and procedures codes (ICD10, CPT, and HCPCS) as they relate to reimbursement
• Submitting claims in a timely manner to the appropriate parties and to insure that procedures and charges are coded in compliance with Medicaid, HMO and PPO's.
• Check each insurance payment is for accuracy and compliance with contract discount
• Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
• Call insurance companies and patients regarding any discrepancy in payments
• Reviewing aging reports to review incoming receivables, responding to denials, collecting on various medical insurance and private pay claims.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Knowledge of CMS 1500 and 1450 Forms
• Excellent communication and computer skills
• Experience with codes, regulations and HIPAA
• Previous home care billing experience preferred.
