Job summary

Kodiak Area Native Association (KANA) is a Tribal health organization serving Kodiak Island communities. This home-based role supports enrolled families with early childhood development, parenting education, and resource connections to promote school readiness and family stability.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of supervised work experience with young children and/or parents; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic knowledge of child development, early childhood education, and community resources for children and families preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supports the organization's mission, goals, and quality standards while demonstrating KANA's core values
  • Upholds KANA's Code of Ethics by conducting all professional activities with honesty, integrity, fairness, and respect
  • Conducts home-based visits with assigned families and engages parents in educational activities that strengthen their role as their child's primary teacher
  • Encourages strong family relationships and promotes parents' ability to support their child's development in the home
  • Provides instruction to parents individually or in groups on behavior management, physical development, language development, and early learning activities
  • Delivers trainings to State of Alaska licensed Child Care Providers and KANA-approved providers in both group and individual settings
  • Conducts community outreach and recruitment to enroll families in the Cama'i Program
  • Administers developmental screenings, health screenings, and family assessments; supports referrals to healthcare, early intervention, and special education services as needed
  • Completes program intake forms, assessments, and required documentation in accordance with program standards
  • Plans and facilitates group connections for families; gathers participant feedback to strengthen engagement and program effectiveness
  • Coaches parents on positive discipline techniques, routines, sleep transitions, nutrition, and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Maintains accurate and organized program files and enters all visit and service data into the required online systems
  • Prepares and submits reports, monthly program narratives, and other required documentation as assigned

Skills
