Job summary

SimsHD Heavy Moving Solutions in Miami, FL is seeking a skilled Hoist Technician to install, service, and maintain mast-climbing hoists and related equipment. You will work with a tight-knit team to ensure safe, precise handling of heavy loads across Florida.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of hoist experience, familiarity with 480V power, PLC/VFD troubleshooting, and a strong commitment to safety. A path to leadership awaits as you mentor apprentices and lead projects.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of hoist experience.
• Experience with Champion hoists preferred.
• 2+ years servicing hoists/overhead cranes or 3+ years as maintenance tech/millwright/electrician.
• Working knowledge of 480V three-phase power, motor controls and PLC/VFD troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with OSHA, ASME B30 and ANSI A10.4 hoist, crane and rigging standards.
• Comfortable working at heights up to 300 ft with fall protection.

Responsibilities

• Install, erect, jump and dismantle mast-climbing construction hoists. Inspect, maintain and repair hoists.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control systems including motors, brakes, gearboxes, VFDs, pendants, and radio controls.
• Install and commission new hoists, perform load tests and document results.
• Perform frequent inspections to OSHA/ASME/ANSI standards.
• Inspect rigging hardware and read electrical schematics and manuals.
• Complete preventive maintenance and propose repairs/upgrades to customers.
• Write inspection reports and service tickets on a tablet or laptop.
• Mentor apprentice technicians and grow into leadership.

What you’ll do

• Install, erect, jump and dismantle mast-climbing construction hoists. I nspect, maintain and repair construction hoists
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control systems: motors, brakes, gearboxes, VFDs, pendants and radio controls
• Install and commission new hoists, perform load tests and document results
• Perform frequent and periodic inspections to OSHA 1910.179, 1910.184, ASME B30 and ANSI A10.4 standards
• Inspect wire rope, chain, slings and rigging hardware
• Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and manufacturer manuals
• Complete preventive maintenance and recommend repairs and upgrades to customers
• Write inspection reports and service tickets on a tablet or laptop
• Train and mentor apprentice technicians as you grow into a leadership role

What you bring

• 2–5 years of hoist experience; experience with Champion hoists is strongly preferred
• 2+ years servicing hoists and overhead cranes, OR 3+ years as an industrial maintenance technician, millwright or electrician
• Working knowledge of 480V three-phase power, motor controls and PLC/VFD troubleshooting
• Familiarity with OSHA, ASME B30 and ANSI A10.4 hoist, crane and rigging standards
• Comfortable working at heights, up to 300 ft, with fall protection
