Job summary

Sims HD Heavy Moving Solutions in Tampa, Florida, is seeking a skilled Hoist Technician to install, inspect, maintain and repair construction hoists, cranes and rigging on Florida projects. You'll troubleshoot mechanical and electrical control systems, read schematics, perform safety inspections to OSHA/ASME standards, and mentor apprentices.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of hoist experience required.
• Experience with Champion hoists preferred.
• 2+ years servicing hoists and overhead cranes, or 3+ years as industrial technician.
• Know-how of 480V three-phase power, motor controls and PLC/VFD troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with OSHA/ASME/ANSI standards for hoists and rigging.
• Ability to work at heights up to 300 ft with fall protection.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Able to pass background check and drug screen.
• Certifications: CMAA/CCO or NCCCO crane inspector may be required.
• Qualified Rigger or Signal Person credential.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
• Aerial lift or forklift certification.
• Technical/associate degree in electrical or industrial maintenance.
• Experience with other major hoist brands.

Responsibilities

• Install, erect, inspect, maintain and repair construction hoists and cranes
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control systems
• Install and commission new hoists, perform load tests and document results
• Perform frequent inspections per OSHA/ASME/ANSI standards
• Inspect wire rope, chain, slings and rigging hardware
• Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and manuals
• Complete preventive maintenance and recommend repairs
• Write inspection reports and service tickets on tablet or laptop
• Train and mentor apprentice technicians toward leadership roles
