Job summary

University of Nebraska-Lincoln's CCFL unit seeks an HMIS Support Specialist to ensure reliable operation of the HMIS across NHAP, Lincoln CoC, and the Nebraska Balance of State CoC. You will support system use, user access, data entry accuracy, and compliance with program requirements.

Under the HMIS Senior Manager, you will assist with system operations, training, and Coordinated Entry activities, including referrals and reporting, acting as a responsive point of contact for users and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus one year experience with a HMIS case management software; Additional years of relevant experience or completed relevant education may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team members and external partners.

Description Of Work

Within the collaborative framework of the UNL–CCFL Community Services Team—which includes the Senior Project Director, HMIS Senior Manager, and HMIS System Administrators,the HMIS Support Specialist provides critical support to the ongoing functionality, reliability, and effectiveness of the Homeless Management Information System ( HMIS ) across the Nebraska Homeless Assistance Program ( NHAP ), the City of Lincoln CoC, and the Nebraska Balance of State CoC. This position supports the day-to-day use of HMIS by helping ensure users have the tools, training, and technical assistance needed to enter accurate data, follow established workflows, and meet program and funding requirements.

Working under the direction and guidance of the HMIS Senior Manager, the HMIS Support Specialist assists with three key areas of work: HMIS System Support, HMIS Coordinated Entry Support, and HMIS Training Support. Responsibilities include supporting HMIS system operations, assisting with user account setup and access readiness, helping troubleshoot system and user questions, supporting Moodle-based training and onboarding, reviewing data for accuracy and compliance, and assisting with Coordinated Entry activities, including referrals, community queues, and related reporting needs. The position serves as a responsive and service-oriented point of support for HMIS users and community partners while escalating complex system, policy, or implementation matters to the HMIS Senior Manager for guidance and final direction.

CCFL is an interdisciplinary research and training center at UNL . CCFL was founded in 1987 to serve as a home for research and public service on child and family policy issues. The CCFL Mission is: Help the Helpers by providing an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to improve systems and outcomes for children and families.

The Community Services Division at CCFL provides a range of services including planning, research, evaluation, and system and program development. A major focus within Community Services is housing and homelessness.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience as a licensed user of an HMIS implementation using Clarity or similar software.


• One year experience with the BitFocus Clarity HMIS software.


• Experience working with the Homeless Coordinated Entry System.


• Knowledge in data management, data analysis, and reporting concepts using excel, Looker, Snowflake, or other similar data/reporting software.
