Job summary

Quest Global is hiring an Engineer- Network and HMI in the United States. You will design, implement, and support communications for control systems while providing system design engineering for GE and third-party installations.

You will support software engineers on HMI applications and help field personnel resolve issues across multiple projects. Required is a bachelor’s degree in IT, CS or Engineering, willingness to travel about 10%, and legal work status in the U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally ~10% of the time.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Background investigation and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and support communication networks for control system applications.
  • Provide system design engineering to facilitate installation and commissioning of GE and third-party control systems and industrial networks.
  • Provide technical support to software engineers for HMI applications.
  • Support Engineering Services field personnel in troubleshooting field problems.
  • Handle multiple projects and activities.
  • Ensure on-time schedule performance, milestones, deliverables and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with quality assurance on projects.
  • Review and interpret customer specifications.
  • Perform hardware selection of system control components for HMI solutions.
  • Travel domestically and internationally ~10% as required.

What You Will Do

Role Summary/Purpose

Essential Responsibilities

In the position of Network and HMI Engineer you will enter an exciting career field where you will assist in the engineering of systems that protect and operate power plant controls. The position requires an individual that possesses understanding of visualization software and engineering principles as well as exhibits project management and communication skills. In this role, you will:

  • Design, implement and support communication networks for control system applications.
  • Provide system design engineering as required to facilitate the ordering, engineering, installation (construction) design and commissioning of GE and third-party control systems and industrial networks.
  • Provide technical support to software engineers in meeting customer needs on HMI applications.
  • Support Engineering Services field personnel in technical resolution of field problems.
  • Handle multiple projects / activities.
  • Be accountable for on-time schedule performance, project milestones, customer deliverables, and compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Provide assistance with quality assurance on projects.
  • Review and interpret customer specifications.
  • Perform hardware selection of system control components for HMI solutions.
  • Travel both domestically and internationally approximately 10% of the time, as required.
Eligibility Requirements

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally approximately 10% of the time.
  • Quest Global will only employ those who are legally authorized to work.
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
Desired Characteristics
  • Demonstrated aptitude for and interest in or experience working with industrial network communication protocols such as OPC, Modbus, TCP/IP, ProfiBus.
  • Background in HMI application software including Proficy Cimplicity and Historian based products.
  • Working knowledge of Visio
  • Demonstrated interest in or experience working in the industrial controls or power generation industry.
  • Strong computer skills: experience setting up Windows based applications including Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 7, Windows 10, Server 2012 and proficiency in standard MS Office applications.
  • Technical skills in engineering design and construction practices
  • Proven team player with solid cooperation, flexibility and demonstrated capacity to learn complex information quickly.
  • Hands-on experience programming GE Mark VI turbine control and Cimplicity HMI software
  • Field experience in related equipment

Good oral and written communication skills

Pay Range: $65000 to $80000 a year

Job Type: Full-time

Work Authorization: US Citizens and be able to travel both inside and outside US
