Job summary

SCP Health is seeking an HM PreCoding Specialist to help maintain production goals and ensure accurate documentation within our PreCoding workflow. You will support chart verification in the charge entry system and Hospital EMR, while upholding HIPAA standards.

You will collaborate with training and auditing teams, participate in system testing, and contribute to a professional, detail-focused work culture. A typical 40-hour week is expected with overtime as required.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in a medical (billing preferably) and/or revenue cycle environment.
  • Knowledge of EMR documentation systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain production goals while meeting defined quality standards in the PreCoding process.
  • Identify trends to maintain a standardized PreCoding workflow and cadence.
  • Participate in system testing for upgrades and processes.
  • Document verification within the charge entry application and Hospital EMR.
  • Promote a team environment aligned with core values and professional development.
  • Attend meetings and educational programs to improve quality.
  • Comply with HIPAA requirements for all chart activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Consistently maintain established production goals while meeting or exceeding defined quality standards throughout the PreCoding process.

  • Identify and trend results and processes to develop and maintain a standardized PreCoding workflow and cadence

  • Participate in system testing as needed to support system, application upgrades, and all processes and procedures

  • Document verification using approved notation standards within the charge entry application and Hospital EMR

  • Promote a team environment demonstrating our core values to achieve all departmental goals and supporting individual professional development

  • Actively participate in meetings and educational programs to improve both individual and team quality

  • Comply with HIPAA requirements in relation to all chart activities

EDUCATION (Required and/or preferred)

High school diploma or equivalent

FIELD OF STUDY (preferred)

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

The HM PreCoding Specialist works independently under general supervision while adhering to established policies, procedures, and production standards.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3 years of experience in a medical (billing preferably) and or revenue cycle environment

Pay Range

18.00 - 26.00 USD per hour

This range represents the anticipated base salary for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
