Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for a Durham primary school. The HLTA will cover lessons in the absence of the teacher, plan activities with staff, and support pupils across early to key stage 2. You will deliver interventions, support SEND/SEMH learners, and contribute to a positive, inclusive environment.

The role offers progression toward a permanent position, a competitive daily rate, and ongoing professional development within a welcoming school community.

Qualifications

• Qualified as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or significant HLTA experience in a primary setting.
• Enhanced DBS registration on the Update Service is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lessons to whole classes in the absence of the class teacher.
• Plan, prepare and adapt learning activities with staff.
• Support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
• Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.
• Support children with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Assess pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers.
