Qualifications

Schedule options:
  • Sunday-Thursday or Monday - Friday 10:00 pm - 6:00 am
  • Sunday-Thursday or Monday - Friday 8:00 pm - 4:00 am
  • Monday - Friday 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Position Overview:

Our Histotechnologists are responsible for performing routine procedures such as orienting, sectioning, and staining tissue specimens to produce slides that aid pathologists in diagnosis. The role requires teamwork to meet deadlines and provide quality care. Level II or higher positions involve understanding complex procedures and supporting the department's operations.

Responsibilities:
Level I
  • Embed, cut, and stain tissue blocks per procedures
  • Maintain productivity standards: Microtomy 20 blocks/hour, Embedding 50 blocks/hour
  • Prepare reagents and stains
  • Assist with derms, one-steppers, and backup for Grossing Tech
  • Stay current with CAP requirements
  • Maintain equipment, instruments, and supplies
  • Perform or assist with advanced staining and validation studies
  • Assist in operational oversight
Level II
  • Perform all Level I duties with higher volume and advanced staining
  • Support validation studies and operational tasks
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Level I
  • Associate's degree in science, HT ASCP registry eligible, with on-the-job training documentation
  • OR Bachelor's degree in science, HTL ASCP registry eligible
Level II
  • Undergraduate degree in science
  • HTL ASCP certification in good standing
Skills & Abilities:
Level I
  • Laboratory experience, medical terminology knowledge
  • Computer skills, organizational skills, attention to detail
  • Time management, analytical skills, ability to prioritize
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment
Level II
  • Minimum two years laboratory experience, histology preferred
  • All skills of Level I
Pay Range:

$25.67 - $40.10 USD/hour, depending on experience and certification level. Compensation may include shift differentials, overtime, bonuses, and incentives. Offers are typically between the minimum and midpoint of the range, with potential for growth.
