Job description

Histotechnologist

A Histotechnologist will be responsible for performing routine procedures in orienting, sectioning, and staining tissue specimens to produce slides that aid pathologists in diagnosis. This role requires teamwork to achieve common goals and meet deadlines to provide quality care to clients and patients. Additionally, the technologist should understand complex special procedures, techniques, principles, and theories, and may support the supervisor in managing the day-to-day operations of the histology department.

Schedule:

On-call

You Will:

1. Embed, cut, and stain tissue blocks according to designated procedures.
2. Maintain productivity standards: microtomy 20 blocks/hour and embedding 50 blocks/hour.
3. Prepare reagents and stains following procedures.
4. Submit derms and one-steppers.
5. Provide backup for Grossing Tech when needed.
6. Stay current with CAP requirements.
7. Assist in maintaining equipment, instruments, and supplies.
8. Perform or assist with advanced staining and validation studies.
9. Assist in operational oversight.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications

• Undergraduate degree in science.
• HT/HTL ASCP certification.
