Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in medical laboratory science or related field.
• Minimum one year of lab experience as histotechnologist or medical technologist.
• Certification as MT/MLS/HT or equivalent by ASCP/AMT/HEW-HHS required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains readiness of frozen section, grossing space, and autopsy rooms.
• Monitors frozen section quality and turnaround time.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and checked for completeness prior to transport.
• May provide training and education to lab staff, students, residents and others.
• Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality.
