Job summary

Baptist Health in Kentucky is seeking a Histotechnician to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination, staining, sectioning, and mounting under the supervision of a Pathologist. The role requires adherence to CLIA ’88 guidelines and ongoing quality control activities.

Additional duties may include clerical tasks, specimen collection, and related laboratory services. If not already HT certified, certification must be obtained within one year of eligibility, supporting our mission of

Qualifications

• Completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program (within the last five years if not ASCP certified) or an Associate degree that includes 12 hours in both biology and chemistry.
• At least 60 semester hours, including 12 hours biology and 12 hours chemistry, plus 1 year of histopathology clinical experience in the last five years.
• Must obtain HT certification within 1 year of eligibility.

Summary Job Description: Job Summary Responsible to section, stain and mount tissue specimens in preparation for microscopic examination by the Pathologist. Assists the Pathologist in making various examinations on submitted tissue specimens and subsequent preparations. Performance of duties is in accordance with CLIA ’88 guidelines. Performs quality control, quality assurance, maintenance and troubleshooting. Duties may also include clerical tasks, specimen collection, and related laboratory services.

Minimum Requirements Completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program (within the last five years if not ASCP certified) OR Associate degree that includes 12 hours in both biology and chemistry OR At least 60 semester hours, or equivalent, from an accredited institution that, at minimum, includes 12 semester hours of both biology and chemistry and 1 year of documented clinical experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last five years Once eligible, must obtain HT certification within 1 year
