Job summary

Inova Central Lab is seeking a dedicated Histotechnologist Lead to join our team. This full-time day shift (Mon-Fri, 6am-2:30pm) focuses on ensuring high-quality tissue processing, staining, and slide preparation for diagnostic review by pathologists.

The ideal candidate will bring 4+ years of bench and leadership experience, ASCP HT/HTL certification, and a strong commitment to patient safety and continuous improvement. Inova offers robust benefits and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Education: 60 semester hours from an accredited institution, including 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science with chemistry/biology and related coursework.
• 4 years of bench, lead and management experience; 1 year of management experience.
• Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL ASCP) certification required or eligible

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and solve problems related to collection and processing of surgical specimens for analysis.
• Process, prepare, and stain Cytology specimens to enable pathologist diagnosis.
• Develop, test, implement, evaluate and select new techniques and methods considering lab resources and budget.
• Perform quality control and identify quality-improvement initiatives for optimum lab operation.
• Use a microtome to section paraffin blocks and produce high-quality slides for routine and special staining

Histotechnologist Lead Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for evaluating and solving problems related to the collection and processing of surgical specimens for analysis.
• Processes, prepares, and stains Cytology specimens to enable the pathologist to render a diagnosis.
• Develops, tests, implements, evaluates, and selects new techniques, procedures, instruments and methods in terms of their usefulness and practicality as they relate to the laboratory's personnel, equipment, space and budgetary resources.
• Performs quality control and identifying quality improvement initiatives to ensure optimum laboratory operation.
• Utilizes a microtome to section paraffin blocks and consistently produce high quality slides for routine, special staining and immunohistochemically induced procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education:60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, includes either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of biology and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
• Years of Experience:4 years with combined bench, lead and management experience. 1 year of management experience
• Certifications: Histotechnician (HT), Or Histotechnologist (HTL ASCP) certification
