Job summary

Vanderbilt University Medical Center seeks a Histotechnologist to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination within the Dept of Anatomic Pathology. The role supports molecular testing and high-volume stat requests under occasional guidance.

The candidate will embed, cut, stain and perform immunocytochemical procedures, maintain QC records, and mentor Histotechnologists. Bachelor's degree and ASCP Histotechnologist certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Histology, Cytology, or related field.
• 1 year of relevant work experience in histology/ histopathology.

Responsibilities

• Embeds tissue specimens for microscopic examination and performs histo- and immunocytochemical procedures.
• Maintains quality control records and documents instrument maintenance.
• Trains and supports Histotechnologists/Histotechnicians.
• Assesses tissue adequacy in the operating room and prepares specimens in appropriate fixatives.
