Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree with 36 science credits including 6 Biology and 6 Chemistry.
• HTL (ASCP) certification is required; eligibility is acceptable if certification is obtained within 180 days of probation.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission, CAP, FDA regulatory standards as applicable.
• Ability to solve multiple problems and exercise professional discretion and judgment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine histological functions: specimen handling, accessioning, processing, embedding, sectioning and staining (H&E) with labeling of slides, blocks, and containers.
• Conduct low and high complexity histochemical and immunohistochemical staining, including kidney, muscle, and nerve biopsies as required.
• Document routine maintenance, manage slide/block filing, and accession specimens; perform routine chemical changes as needed.
