Job summary

Baptist Health in Louisville, KY is seeking a Histotechnician to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist. You will section, stain and mount slides, and assist with various examinations in a CLIA '88 compliant lab.

The role includes quality control, QA, maintenance and troubleshooting, with potential clerical tasks and specimen collection as needed. Eligible candidates should have NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician program or related education and pursue HT

Qualifications

• Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician program or an Associate degree including 12 hours of biology and chemistry.
• Or at least 60 semester hours with 12 biology and 12 chemistry and 1 year of histopathology experience.
• HT certification must be obtained within 1 year of eligibility.

Responsibilities

Pathologist. Assists the Pathologist in making various examinations on submitted tissue specimens and

subsequent preparations. Performance of duties is in accordance with CLIA '88 guidelines. Performs quality

control, quality assurance, maintenance and troubleshooting. Duties may also include clerical tasks, specimen

collection, and related laboratory services.

Minimum Requirements

Completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program (within the last five years if not ASCP certified) OR Associate degree that includes 12 hours

in both biology and chemistry

OR

At least 60 semester hours, or equivalent, from an accredited institution that, at minimum, includes 12 semester hours of both biology and chemistry and

1 year of documented clinical experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last five years

Once eligible, must obtain HT certification within 1 year
