Job summary
Northwestern Medicine in Chicago seeks an experienced Histotechnologist to perform routine histology procedures, embed tissues, and prepare slides for microscopic review. The role requires coordination with pathologists, residents, and coordinators, and adherence to SOPs and regulatory standards.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biological, physical, chemical, life sciences, medical laboratory technology, or histology.
- HTL (ASCP) certification or eligible. If eligible must take and pass the national certifying exam within one year of employment.
Responsibilities
- Performs cassette-log reconciliation and handles tissue processors according to SOPs.
- Embeds biopsy, routine surgical, and autopsy tissues per SOP.
- Operates microtome and determines block orientation for representative sections.
- Performs staining, coverslipping, and quality control of slides.
- Maintains documentation in LIS and complies with regulatory requirements.
- Participates in Safety and Infection Control activities and training.
