Job summary

Hartford HealthCare in Meriden is seeking an experienced Histotechnician to prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic evaluation by a pathologist. The role covers fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining, including advanced histology techniques.

Qualified candidates will have a NAACLS-accredited HT program or equivalent, 1 year of clinical histology experience, and HT certification or ASCP equivalent, plus strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Requires NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program or equivalent education pathway.
  • Includes at least 1 year of clinical histology experience.
  • HT Certification (ASCP or equivalent) preferred.
  • Effective communication of English required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and processes tissue samples for routine and complex histologic techniques to be examined under a microscope by a pathologist.
  • Performs fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining (H&E and Special Stains); conducts advanced techniques like enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridisation, cryotomy, immunofluorescence, and tissue microarray.
