Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a skilled histotechnologist to join The Hospital of Central Connecticut's pathology lab. You will prepare and process tissue samples for histologic evaluation by a pathologist, performing fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining (H&E and special stains).

You may utilize advanced techniques such as enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, cryotomy, immunofluorescence, and tissue microarray as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or NAACLS-accredited histotechnician/histotechnologist program.
  • ASCP Histotechnologist certification or ASCP Histotechnician with 3–5 years experience.
  • Ability to comply with OSHA and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe laboratory environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to laboratory needs as related to testing and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of pathology, management, education, and regulations in histotechnology.

Shift Detail: Mon -Friday, No weekends , No Holidays Variable start time between 4:30 - 5:30 am

Job Description

Prepares and processes tissue samples for routine and complex histologic techniques to be examined under a microscope by a pathologist. The histologic techniques include the following: fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining (H&E and Special Stains) of human tissue for evaluation. This includes complex histologic techniques such as enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, cryotomy, immunofluorescence, and tissue microarray.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree OR successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnologist program.
  • ASCP Histotechnologist Certification Or, ASCP Histotechnician with 3-5 years relevant experience.

  • Ability to be flexible as required to adapt to laboratory needs as related to testing and scheduling.
