Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Histotechnician to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination. You will embed, section, stain, and label slides, supporting pathologists and residents in a busy histology laboratory.

The role requires a high school diploma (associate degree preferred) and 1 year of histopathology experience or ASCP HT certification. Excellent attention to detail, computer literacy, and the ability to work in a team are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma; preferred ASCP Histotechnician (HT) certification or related experience.
• 1 year histopathology lab experience or HT certification preferred.
• Strong computer skills and ability to use Windows applications.

Responsibilities

• Receives, processes, and embeds tissue samples for paraffin sections.
• Performs staining, labeling, and slide preparation for pathologists and residents.
• Assists in gross dissection and special procedures as required.
• Maintains QC documentation and keeps reagents and equipment clean and in good condition.
• Adheres to safety guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Performs other duties as needed.
