Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Histology Technician to perform computer functions, process patient specimens, maintain department inventory, operate and maintain equipment, and ensure accurate record-keeping. The role involves routine histological procedures and strict adherence to lab safety and Mercy policies.

The candidate should have a High School diploma or equivalent, HT(ASCP) certification, and preferably an Associate's degree with computer experience and knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• HT(ASCP) certification required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Computer experience preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs computer functions, processes patient specimens, maintains department inventory, operates and maintains equipment, and performs record-keeping tasks and QI functions.
• Performs routine histological procedures.
• Adheres to patient identification, lab safety, and other Mercy Lab and department policies and procedures.
• Develops standard operating procedures in department.
