Job summary

Mercy Medical Center is seeking a Histotechnician II to process surgical specimens, preserve tissue morphology, and prepare slides for evaluation. The role includes performing special stains and IHC as directed by the pathologist.

Candidates should have a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician Program or an Associate Degree with hospital training and ASCP eligibility, or be ASCP certified; 2 years histology experience preferred. Benefits and a supportive environment offered.

Qualifications

• Completion of Histotechnician Program from a NAACLS accredited school, or an Associate Degree with hospital training and ASCP eligibility, or ASCP certification.
• 2 years experience in Histology preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Process surgical specimens to preserve tissue morphology and cell structure.
• Prepare quality tissue sections on glass slides for microscopic evaluation.
• Perform special stains including immunohistochemical (IHC) procedures as requested by the pathologist.
• Perform frozen sections as part of intraoperative consultation.
