Listed is the base hiring salary range offered for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to skills and experience. The salary range listed is just one component of the total rewards/compensation package offered to candidates.
Min = $27.89
Mid = $34.86
Max = $41.83

Summary:

The Histotechnician will be responsible for preparing and processing tissue samples for microscopic examination by pathologists. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining high laboratory standards.

Responsibilities

• Process and embed tissue specimens to preserve their cellular structure and tissue components.
• Cut sections of tissue for microscopic examination using microtomes and cryostats.
• Stain tissue sections to make cell structures visible for examination.
• Perform immunohistochemistry to detect specific proteins in tissue sections. Examine the quality of tissue samples under a microscope and prepare them for analysis by pathologists.
• Maintain, clean, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Adhere to laboratory procedures and safety regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Document and report the results of tests and analyses accurately and legibly
• Stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and advancements in histotechnology.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Option 1:

• Associate's degree in Histotechnology, a related field, or equivalent CLIA education.
• HT certified with American Society for Clinical Pathology(ASCP) or equivalent OR minimum 2 years experience in histotechnology.

Option 2:

• Bachelor degree in Histotechnology, or a related field(equivalent CLIA education).
• Knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining techniques.
• Proficiency with laboratory information systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with special staining and immunohistochemistry techniques.
• Strong knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy.
• Experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting.
