Salary Range: Min $90,758.62; Mid $117,986.20; Max $145,213.79.
Summary
The Histology Manager will oversee the daily operations of the histology/cytology lab, ensuring high-quality and timely processing of tissue and cytology samples. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of laboratory practice.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the histology laboratory staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Oversee the preparation, processing, and analysis of tissue and cytology samples.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
- Develop, complete, maintain, and monitor QA/QC/PM processes to assure quality outcomes.
- Develop and implement laboratory protocols and procedures and maintain document control.
- Conduct functional verification, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting on all equipment, maintaining proper documentation.
- Participate in the introduction, investigation, and implementation of new procedures and evaluation of new instruments.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other medical professionals to support diagnostic activities.
- Monitor laboratory inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Prepare and manage the laboratory budget and engage staff in efforts to contain costs and improve efficiency and cost‑effectiveness of services.
- Identify program or service growth opportunities and methodologies to enhance revenues.
- Collaborate with LIS analysts and IT department on all aspects of PIS system administration and project objectives.
- Communicate how individual actions contribute to the overall good of the institution and how goals overlap with Onvida’s goals.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or related field and 7 years related experience OR Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or related field and 3 years related experience.
- Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
