Job summary

Essentia Health's Pathology Team at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota, seeks a certified Histotechnician (HT-ASCP) for a full-time night shift. You will process tissue specimens, perform routine and special stains, and conduct IHC/ISH testing to support accurate diagnoses.

Responsibilities include Mohs and frozen section assistance, rigorous QA/QC, and instrument maintenance, all while collaborating with pathologists and lab staff. AHQ certifications required for the role.

Qualifications

• ASCP HT certification required.
• Graduate of NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician program or equivalent.
• 1 year histopathology experience with biology/chemistry coursework preferred.

Join Essentia Health's Pathology Team at St. Mary's Medical Center

Essentia Health is seeking a certified Histotechnician (HT-ASCP) to join our laboratory team in beautiful Duluth, Minnesota. This full-time night shift opportunity offers the chance to work in a dynamic histopathology environment supporting accurate diagnosis and patient care through tissue processing, staining, and specialized laboratory procedures.

What You'll Do

• Process and prepare pathology and cytology specimens for microscopic examination
• Perform routine and special staining procedures
• Conduct Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and In Situ Hybridization (ISH) testing
• Assist with Mohs and frozen section procedures
• Maintain quality assurance and quality control standards
• Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory professionals to support diagnostic services

ASCP Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) required AND one of the following:

• Graduate of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician program, OR
• Associate degree with required biology and chemistry coursework plus one year of histopathology experience, OR
• 60 semester hours of college coursework with required biology and chemistry credits plus one year of histopathology experience

Schedule & Compensation

• Full-Time (80 hours per pay period)
• Night Shift
• Compensation: $30.73 - $45.18/hour
• $7,000 Sign-On Bonus for eligible external candidates
