Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Histotechnician to perform specimen preparation and support histology, cytology, and molecular testing. You will accession samples, process specimens, and assist with grossing. Collaboration with nursing and providers is essential for timely, accurate results.

Responsibilities span pre-analytic through post-analytic workflows, with emphasis on quality, safety, and regulatory compliance to ensure reliable patient care. A relevant associate degree is required.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree in a laboratory science or MLT with accredited coursework.
• Education or training that includes 60 semester hours with 24 hours in MLT/ science.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA, CLIA, CAP, DNV and OSHA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Pre-analytic workflows: accession samples, handle transport, and track specimens.
• Analytic workflows: perform grossing, embedding, staining and sectioning with LP/QA oversight.
• Post-analytic: review reports for errors and support quality management.
