The History Teacher is responsible for creating an engaging and academically rigorous learning environment that inspires students to develop a deep understanding of history, civics, geography, economics, and the social sciences. The teacher fosters critical thinking, historical inquiry, and informed citizenship while delivering standards-based instruction that prepares students for college, careers, and active participation in a diverse and democratic society. Through meaningful relationships, high expectations, and culturally responsive teaching practices, the teacher empowers students to analyze the past, understand the present, and shape the future.
Minimum: Four‑year degree and valid New Mexico Secondary Teaching License (or the ability to obtain such), with appropriate endorsements for the courses being taught.
Preferred: Bilingual English/Spanish. At least one year of previous teaching experience.
Contract: 1.0 FTE – 10 Months
Pay Schedule: NMPED Teachers
NMPED 7-12 Secondary with Social Studies endorsement OR K-12 Specialty with Social Studies endorsement
