Job summary

Brigham Young University History Department seeks a part-time History Office Manager (28 hours/week) to mentor student office staff, support faculty and students, manage department communications, and oversee events for the department.

This role provides a fulfilling academic experience and an opportunity to work closely with dedicated students, staff, and faculty while contributing to departmental operations and outreach efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or four years of office experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to keep confidential information
  • Public relations skills and ability to work with people with a variety of ages and backgrounds
  • Data entry skills and public relations skills
  • Proactive and detail-oriented with strong teamwork abilities

Responsibilities

  • Mentor student office staff, leading and motivating through engagement, coaching, team building, and employee development
  • Answer entry level questions, conduct annual audits of records and materials, and coordinate all department office needs
  • Prepare each semester/term’s academic class schedule
  • Help coordinate visits for campus guests
  • Organize department events, including arrangement of logistics and oversight of event execution
  • Coordinate recruitment and student engagement events
  • Provide administrative support of student clubs
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop and implement outreach strategies and event marketing materials
  • Execute a comprehensive social media strategy, oversee creation and distribution of regular newsletter, manage department websites, and update public displays in department spaces
