Job summary

Brigham Young University History Department seeks a part-time History Office Manager (28 hours/week) to mentor student office staff, support faculty and students, manage department communications, and oversee events for the department.

This role provides a fulfilling academic experience and an opportunity to work closely with dedicated students, staff, and faculty while contributing to departmental operations and outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

History Office Manager (part-time 28 hours/week)

Join the BYU History Department, where we draw on gospel principles and historical knowledge and skills to achieve understanding of diverse human experiences.


As our Office Manager, you will guide and mentor student office staff, provide operational support to faculty and students, manage department communications, and oversee events for the department.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required


  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU

  • Bachelor’s Degree or four years of office experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to keep confidential information

  • Public relations skills and ability to work with people with a variety of ages and backgrounds

  • Data entry skills and public relations skills


Preferred


  • Bachelor’s degree in the Liberal Arts (History, English, Humanities, etc.) and 2 years of experience in an office setting

  • Supervisory experience

  • Familiarity with standard office software programs (MS Office) and university systems (Workday)

  • Knowledge and experience with Canva, Adobe Acrobat, and Photoshop

  • Familiarity with higher education

Pay Grade: 48


Typical Starting Pay: $20.25 to $26.50 an hour
