Job summary

The Minnesota Historical Society invites applications for the Intern - History Education Social Media Intern, a part-time, temporary role at the History Center in St. Paul. This internship runs roughly January 19, 2027 through May 23, 2027, with 10 hours per week and a flexible schedule.

In-person hours are preferred Tuesdays or Wednesdays 9-5. The TED Team coordinates teacher professional development and oversees social media for MNHS educational programming.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, or graduated within the past 12 months.
• Ideal candidates may be in Education, History, Media Studies, Public Relations, Marketing or related field.
• Undergrad junior/senior, able to work independently and in a team.
• Experience planning, researching, video creation, and building diverse relationships.
• Self-motivated, comfortable with social-media tech, strong written communication, creative thinker.
• Experience with Facebook, Instagram or other social media.
• Education/history experience preferred.
• Engaging students experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with Teacher Education staff to research, design, develop, and implement social media plan.
• Develop content for Instagram and Facebook (@HistoryEdMNHS).
• Research online tools and strategies, and recommend future initiatives.
• Attend social media meetings with supervisor and strategic communications.
• Develop and design monthly teacher email newsletters.
• Increase Instagram and Facebook engagement.
• Research to grow engagement with the teacher audience.
• Suggest, develop, and oversee other projects as assigned.
