Job summary

The Minnesota Historical Society is seeking a Marketing & Communications Intern to support promoting MNHS events, sites and exhibits. You will assist with writing and researching media releases, tracking media coverage, and coordinating promotional materials with MNHS departments.

Responsibilities include social media ideation and execution, website updates, and event calendars. Eligible undergrad/grad students or recent grads apply; internship runs Jan 19, 2027–May 23, 2027, 12 hours/week,

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, or have graduated within the past 12 months at the time of application.
  • Ideal candidates might be currently pursuing, or a graduate with a degree in Public Relations, Marketing or Journalism.
  • The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of classroom experience in public relations, marketing and/or journalism.
  • Possess a basic understanding of marketing principles; extensive prior internship experience is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Tracking media coverage of MNHS.
  • Occasional on-site coordination of media interviews.
  • Assisting with writing for media alerts and marketing materials.
  • Social media ideation and execution.
  • Making website updates, including calendar events.
  • Learning from seasoned marketing professionals.
