Job summary

The Minnesota Historical Society is seeking an Intern for the Special Collections Library at the History Center in St. Paul. This part-time, temporary role runs approximately January 19, 2027 to May 23, 2027, with 8-15 hours per week and a flexible schedule aligned with school commitments.

The intern will engage in daily library work, support public access to MNHS collections, and build a network of library professionals through seminars and hands-on projects.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, or have graduated within the past 12 months.
• Ideal candidates might study Library/Info Science, History or Public History, Social Science or Humanities withPrimary Source Research.
• Note: internship requires flexibility and ability to participate in seminars.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with members of the public at the Library Registration Desk.
• Learn and use various library software systems.
• Use regular office software (documents, spreadsheets, etc.).
• Research in catalogs, search systems, and databases.
• Select and prioritize collection materials for learning tools per standards.
