Architect of the Capitol in Washington, DC is seeking a Painter-Refinisher to refinishing doors, door frames and other woodwork within the Library Buildings & Grounds, Tenant Services Division, Projects Branch, Painting Night Section.

You will work on projects involving historical colors, complex striping, designs and panel refinishing, producing finishes that closely match samples while maintaining historic detailing.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform Painter-Refinisher duties with minimal supervision.
• Safely prepare and repair historic wood surfaces, preserving original detailing.
• Independently perform wood finishing and refinishing tasks with stains, varnishes, oils, paints and protective coatings.
• Produce finishes that match existing or documented samples for color, grain and sheen.
