Job summary

The Site Manager will oversee Bentonville Battlefield, a 2,100+ acre North Carolina Historic Site with about 50,000 visitors annually. You will supervise staff, preserve site features, manage visitor services, and coordinate educational programming and events.

Responsibilities include budgeting, artifact care, publicity, and community outreach, with a schedule Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM and occasional holidays or weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in history or related field required.
  • Two years of experience managing historic sites, research, or interpretation.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise full-time staff, temporary staff, and volunteers.
  • Oversee preservation of site features, buildings, grounds, and visitor services.
  • Develop and implement events and educational programming; manage artifacts care.
  • Plan marketing, publicity, and donor/community outreach; supervise budget and payroll.
  • Oversee gift shop operations and deposits; coordinate with local groups like Tourism Development Authority.
