The position supports the site manager and engages with schools, community groups, and Friends of the Bennington Battlefield, with opportunities to contribute to publications and social media.

Qualifications

• BA in history, anthropology or political science preferred.
• Willingness to communicate as a history representative and inclusive of historically overlooked populations.
• Experience delivering living history interpretation.
• Experience conducting historical research and delivering interpretation to diverse audiences.
• Experience working or volunteering in a museum, heritage or cultural organization.

Responsibilities

• Greet, orient and educate visitors; conduct tours of the grounds.
• Plan lessons, lectures and programs for outreach and on-site interpretation.
• Assist in delivering outreach programs to schools and community groups.
• Support interpretive programming with the Friends of the Bennington Battlefield as needed.
• Develop and review interpretive content for publications and social media.
• Conduct research on the history of the battle and participants.
• Assist with visitor services, attendance data, and revenue handling.
• Coordinate summer docents and volunteers.
