Job summary

Work in USA in Akron seeks a Preservation Architect to preserve and restore historic buildings in the city. This is a contract position with accommodation provided.

You will research historical architecture and materials, develop preservation plans, prepare restoration drawings and specs, collaborate with engineers and contractors to meet standards, and manage documentation, approvals, and client communications to keep projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Architecture or related field.
• Minimum 5 years experience as Preservation Architect.
• Strong knowledge of historical architectural styles, materials and construction techniques.
• Experience managing preservation projects from conception to completion.
• Proficient with CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough research on history, architecture and materials of historic buildings.
• Develop preservation plans for existing structures and design new projects respecting historical character.
• Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for restoration and preservation work.
• Collaborate with engineers, contractors and other professionals to meet design standards and requirements.
• Monitor construction progress to ensure compliance with preservation plans.
• Conduct site visits to assess conditions and identify repairs or maintenance needs.
