Job summary

The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, operated by the State of Nevada, seeks a Grounds Maintenance Worker to care for a 13‑acre property and two historic structures. You will handle landscaping, irrigation, and routine repairs while supporting exhibit setup and maintenance tasks.

Work is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with responsibilities including routine yard work, tool upkeep, and safety-focused responses to emergencies. Previous grounds experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Two years of grounds maintenance experience or one year as Grounds Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service.
• Ability to operate light, medium and heavy equipment and perform basic repairs.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and landscape practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the museum grounds, clean up debris, and operate landscape equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance on tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Install sprinklers and manage irrigation according to plans.
• Assist with event setup, exhibit work, and general maintenance tasks.
• Respond to emergencies as a first contact and ensure safety.
