Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking a Groundskeeper I to perform maintenance and landscaping on district grounds, athletic fields, and outside facilities. The role requires operating various grounds equipment and occasionally responding to emergencies.

Training will be provided for asbestos and lead-awareness as required. The Groundskeeper I performs duties across different shifts, including early mornings, days, or evenings, and works under supervision to complete routine and semi-skilled

Qualifications

• Six months landscaping or grounds keeping experience.
• Knowledge of basic gardening, pruning and landscaping methods.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Nevada driver license.
• AHERA 16 Hour asbestos training within 12 months of employment (employer providing training).
• OSHA Lead Action Training may be required within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Plants, mows, trims, weeds, fertilizes and irrigates lawns, flower beds and fields.
• Cleans and repairs or replaces sprinkler heads; assists in installing or repairing sprinkler systems; repairs fences and signs.
• Assembles and maintains playground and athletic equipment; resurfacing and marking tracks and athletic fields.
• Operates mowers, tractors, backhoes, graders, trucks and related equipment; performs minor repairs on small engines.
• Responds to off-hours district emergencies as needed.
