Job summary

Tryon Palace Historic Sites, Gardens in New Bern, NC is seeking a Grounds Worker II to perform garden and grounds maintenance, including lawn and hedge care, seasonal displays and event prep. The role supports public viewing areas at the main site and the History Center.

Candidates should have two years of horticultural experience or an equivalent combination of education and work history, and may need a NC pesticide license or the ability to obtain one within 90 days. A sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of landscape maintenance and plant health.
• Ability to identify plant problems and propose solutions.
• Safe handling and application of pesticides and fertilizers.
• Certified Plant Professional preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily landscape care including pruning, weeding and fertilizing.
• Maintain lawns, paths, mulched beds and seasonal displays for public viewing.
• Prepare gardens for events and interpretive programs.
• Support special events and wedding setups as needed.
