Job summary

Craven County Schools is seeking a Grounds Keeper I in New Bern, NC. Immediate start with a 12-month term.

The role reports to the Director of Facilities Support and involves leading a crew to maintain lawns, shrubs, and trees, using tractors, mowers, and related equipment. Candidates should have grounds-keeping knowledge, horticultural skills, and the ability to train others; a pesticide applicator license and NC driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Grounds keeping knowledge and horticultural practices required.
• Must hold NC pesticide applicator license as directed by NCDA.
• Valid NC driver’s license for weight/type of vehicles.
• Ability to operate and perform minor repairs on heavy power equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain lawns, plant beds, shrubs, and trees to design specifications.
• Lead a crew and assign work; supervise progress and adjust as needed.
• Operate or repair ground maintenance equipment; transport machinery as required.
• Follow safety practices and report unsatisfactory work to supervisors.
