Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Histology Technician to prepare slides and support diagnostic workflow. You will accession specimens, assist with gross dissection, process tissues, embed, section, stain (including IHC), and cover slips.

Collaboration with pathologists and support staff is essential for timely turnaround. The role requires ASCP HT/HTL certification or equivalent, an associate degree or 60 semester hours with biology/chemistry, and NAACLS-accredited histotechnician training or 1 year of

Qualifications

Certification: ASCP HT (technician) or HTL (technologist) exam.
Associate degree or 60 semester hours with 12+ biology/chemistry.
NAACLS-accredited histotechnician program or 1 year clinical lab experience.

Responsibilities

Embed, section, stain and label tissue specimens with precision.
Perform embedding, microtomy and H&E stains; assist during interoperative consultations.
Troubleshoot stains and immunohistochemical (IHC) procedures.
Log and accession specimens using the LIS; coordinate with pathologists and assistants.
Maintain safety, organized workflows and quality controls in the lab.
