Responsibilities

Histology Technologist

  1. Ensure tissue specimens are optimally processed, oriented, and embedded appropriately according to tissue type.
  2. Perform routine microtomy with high speed and quality.
  3. Prepare stains and other reagents for routine staining.
  4. Dispose of all chemical wastes properly.
  5. Perform routine daily maintenance on laboratory equipment and document accordingly.
  6. Troubleshoot mechanical and human errors and malfunctions.
  7. Meet quality control and proficiency testing standards as required by regulatory agencies.
  8. Participate in CQI monitors and data collection as needed.
  9. Engage in continuing education programs or opportunities.
  10. Stock supplies and maintain inventory following proper procedures.
  11. Perform functions using job-related software and systems.
  12. Travel may be required to support staffing at other clinical facilities.
  13. Maintain attendance, promptness, professionalism, attention to detail, cooperation, and politeness to customers, vendors, and patients.
  14. Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Histology Technologist:

  • HT or HTL (ASCP) Certification from an accredited Histology Program OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences or a minimum of 24 semester hours in Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Physics, or related sciences.
Pay Range

USD $23.37 - USD $35.06 per hour.
