Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science from an accredited college/univeristy.
• At least 1 year of clinical laboaratory work experience required.
• Certification: HTL(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex histological procedures used to prepare specimens of tissue for examination and analysis by a Pathologist.
• Performs grossing, processing, embedding, microtomy, and both routine and multiple staining of samples.
• Performs quality control on completed slides.
• Identifies problems that may affect diagnosis and results. Records observations from tests.
• Documents maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab. Complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety.
