Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Histology Technician to monitor technical functions within histology, ensure quality of work, and support adherence to JCAHO, DHEC, CLIA, and CAP standards.

You will perform the duties of a staff histotechnician with strong interpersonal skills, problem identification, and resolution abilities, ensuring laboratory compliance in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required.
• No experience required.
• HT(ASCP) certification by ASCP BOC or equivalent preferred. If not certified, must have completed a NACCLS Accredited HT/HTL Program and be certification eligible. Certification must be achieved within 1 year of hire; until certification is achieved, salary will be 10% less.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the technical functions within histology, including quality of work, procedures and methods, and expenses.
• Performs the duties of a staff histotechnician.
• Ensures laboratory compliance with standards set forth by JCAHO, DHEC, CLIA, and the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
